Welcome to Rising Sun Kennel
Dog Boarding on Our Mill Creek, WV Family Farm
A Little Country Comfort for Your Best Friend
Welcome to Rising Sun Kennel, a place where country roots, family values, and a love for dogs come together. Nestled on our family farm just outside Mill Creek, West Virginia, Rising Sun Kennel began with a simple idea: to create a safe, peaceful place where dogs could feel at home, even when their families are away. Since 2021, we’ve been proud to welcome pups to our little piece of the countryside, surrounded by the quiet charm of farm life and the comfort of a family who truly cares.
Being family-owned means a lot to us. We believe dogs aren’t just pets — they’re family. That’s why we strive to treat every pup who comes through our doors with the same kindness, patience, and care we’d want for our own. From fresh country air and room to stretch their legs to cozy accommodations and a consistent routine, we want every stay to feel like a little home away from home.
When you leave your best friend with us, we want you to feel at ease knowing they’re in caring hands, right here on our family farm.
At Rising Sun Kennel, your pup may be visiting, but they’ll always be treated like family.

Individualized Care
For everyone's safety, dogs are not exercised together unless they are from the same family. We administer your dog's medications at no additional charge when provided in the original container with clear written dosage instructions.

Daily Exercise & Playtime
Dogs enjoy time in our fenced 30' x 30' exercise yard three times daily for off-leash exercise, weather permitting and as appropriate for their needs. Dogs are also walked twice daily.

Clean, Spacious Kennels
Our indoor kennels measure 4' x 4' and feature 2-inch raised kennel decking to help keep your pet elevated above the main floor. Each kennel has access to a 4' x 6' covered outdoor run, allowing your dog to get outside even when the weather isn't cooperating.
Trusted by Our Families
My dog's first boarding experience was at Rising Sun, and we felt great about that decision every step of the way. Jo is kind and communicative, and I love that she shares photos and videos of the dogs. The facility is clean and spacious. We'll definitely be back!

We had our chocolate lab Bernie stay at
"doggie sleep away camp" AKA Rising Sun Kennel, and I couldn't possibly explain how amazing the whole experience was. From the start, seeing the in depth intake form/ questionnaire put me at ease. The owner truly gives so much love and attention to every pup in her care. Frequent video/picture updates, fun walks in the woods with lots of sniff spots, play time with his favorite toys, she really did it all. I was stunned at the more than affordable price.

would use Jo again in a heartbeat! She is wonderful with the animals. I had to board al 4 of my dogs Thanksgiving week and it was great not to worry and she even posts video and pictures of your dogs! The price is great.
